Photographer, Martha Hobbs considers herself very lucky to live nestled in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains in beautiful Saratoga Springs, NY.  Saratoga offers unparalleled beauty and charm throughout its historic city.  Centered in Saratoga is “Broadway” which offers seasonal beauty of fire-red tulip beds in the spring, baskets overflowing with petunias and impatiens at every streetlamp in the summer, mums, pumpkins and cornstalks at each storefront welcoming the crispness of autumn, and boughs of evergreens draped with snow cascading through the avenues in the winter time.

Scattered throughout the area are picture perfect parks such as the Yaddo, Congress, and Saratoga State Park.  Each bringing its own flavor of whimsical carousels, playful water fountains named “Spit and Spat,” rustic wooden bridges connecting small meandering streams, and stoic statues honoring our heroes of the past.

Another favorite area for Martha to photograph is the Saratoga Racetrack.  She frequents the stables of the racetrack in the pre-dawn hours and takes pictures of the horses’ early morning workouts, as the late summer sun rises behind the historic grandstand.  She tries to capture it all; the misty sunrise, the frequent neighs of the eager horses awakening in the near darkness, the fragrance of the petunias hanging from each stable, the thunderous roar of the horses hooves as they run past her on the track, and the blanket of sheer excitement embracing the mystery of what the day will bring for all who come to visit.

A short distance from Saratoga are the picturesque Adirondack Mountains offering all the beauty a nature photographer could ever ask for.  From dawn until darkness, during every season of the year, grand vistas of breathtaking mountain ranges overlooking crystal clear lakes such as Paradox, Schroon, and Lake George offer phenomenal opportunities for photographs.

Whether you live in the upstate New York area, or have visited Saratoga and the Adirondack region, Martha hopes that her pictures will hang in a special place in your home as a permanent reminder of a day, a childhood, or a lifetime spent filled with family, friends and fond memories.
